Never take anyone for granted.

My roommate is in a romantic relationship for about 5 years and both of them want to marry each other. He's very close friend of mine so I know quite a lot about their relationship and what's often going on between them.
Both of them live in hostels and meet pretty often. But these days they didn't meet much. Since a couple of months, his girlfriend is insisting him to meet and travel somewhere near, but he says he can't because he is stuck in college doing a lot of activities. They haven't met since 3 months.
Today she met with a serious road accident and is in the ICU. He is in trauma. He keeps crying day and night. I have hardly seen someone in this condition. He keeps telling me that he should have met her and spent more time with her. See how his life flipped.
Last two months, he could have met her any time he wanted; now there's no guarantee he can ever meet her even if wants too :(. He is cursing himself for his behaviour. I can see him drowning in flood of regrets.
You know what? He took her for granted. That, anyway he's gonna marry her so he has whole life to spend with her, so meeting her now wasn't the top priority at all.
I've learnt never to take anyone for granted. May it be your parents, siblings or partner. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow, treat them like it's their last day. Trust me even if this might be a hurdle in your ambitions, it will keep you happy, both in the short and the long run.
If you want to know how rich you are, don't count your money, just roll down tears and count how many hands come to wipe it.
